Night Tigers-Chapter 19

“So Earth fought the insects too?  Yeah right so why are the a Type 13 planet on its last legs?”  Stan asked.

“Many of the worlds that fought the insects suffered severe casualties and catastrophic damage during the Insect War.  Humans defeated the insects but at a great cost.” Kai explained.

He flipped open a huge book titled “Pyramids of the Ancient World”.   Kai quickly flipped through the pages.  “These structures, these pyramids as they are called existed on the original Brunnis, and the memories of the many Divine Shadows I have access to indicate they were scattered throughout the Light universe also.  These structures seem to be common on human dominated worlds.”

“But you seem convinced that the Brunnen G specifically visited Earth.” Xev said.

“Yes, because of an item Master Chuin showed me that came from the original Brunnis.” Kai replied.

Remo was standing over the body of the last guard.  These Mexican cartels believed in firepower.  But guns hadn’t been a problem for Remo for decades.  Officer LaCroix was handcuffed to a chair and hadn’t been so lucky.  The guards had been firing wildly trying to hit Remo, instead someone had gotten of a shot that hit Officer LaCroix right between the eyes.  Remo didn’t need to get any closer to see that the man was dead.

“That’s the biz.” Remo said turning to leave the cell.

Gordons had simply waited until the Cartel members had left the office when the sound of gunfire started and then walked out into the living room which was also empty.

            “Mr Prince?” He queried.

The television popped on.  “Well Gordons how are we going to get out of this mess?”

“I will have to extract you from the television.  We are getting closer to our destination.  Soon I believe we will have what we need to destroy our enemies.”

Prince felt himself being pulled from the set and then felt something else, death.  Someone was dying and they were close.

“Gordons I think we may be about to catch a lucky break.” Prince said.  He pulled himself away from Gordons and followed the call of death.

“Master Chuin, I must return to Folcroft.” Kai said.  “We may have a problem.  It seems that there may be an ancient weapon hidden on this planet.   We must find it before someone else does and figures out what it is.”

“What kind of weapon?  A boom?” Chuin questioned.

“No a weapon of much greater power.  One that can destroy this world.  The same technology that was incorporated into the Lexx.  I will need several items from the storehouse.”

“Very well I will secure transportation for us.” Chuin replied.  “The idiot in Pyongyang will make sure that we safely reach our destination.”

“Well the Cartel is dead and so is LaCroix.  This just happened to be the day there was a bullet with his name on it.  He was dead before I had a chance to question him.  Sorry Smitty but we are not going to get any help there.” Remo said.

“We need to know why they went to Mexico.” Harold Smith said.

“Couldn’t it just be because of one too many bad westerns?” Remo asked.

“No bonehead.” 790 replied.  “There was no reason for them to go to Mexico to evade capture.

How many televisions are there in the U.S.?  Not to mention household appliances.  They could have hidden here forever and never been found.”

“Chuin is on his way back with everyone.  He said that Kai made a discovery while in Sinanju and insists on going to Chichen Itza which is also in Mexico.”

Can they just meet me there?  Since I’m already in Mexico, I’ll just make my way there.  Where is this Cheechan Issa anyway?” Remo asked.

“Chichen Itza, it’s a pyramid.”  Ruby answered.

Kai was busy pouring over the scroll containing the prophecy of the Night Tigers.  Although he could not process information as quickly as 790, his decarbonized brain was in effect a powerful computer.  The wealth of memories he carried thanks to the two Predecessor’s brains he had drained made him a walking talking reference library.

The prophecy of the Great Master Wang was based on ancient folklore.  Folklore that was ancient when his ancestor still lived on the original Brunnen G.  It was the prophecy of the Shadow Walkers.

“This prophecy is known to you?” Chuin asked as everyone sat together in the dining area of the huge ship.

“The Shadow Walkers were people who had died and comeback from the land of the dead.  The come back changed, they have abilities that they did not have in life.  The tale speaks of two who are touched by Death and given special powers.  These two are meant to serve death by preventing the death of Death.”  Kai explained.

“Wait a minute what do you mean preventing the death of death.” Stanley asked.

“Death lives and feeds on death.  In order for Death to feed there must be life.  But the legends speak of the Ambitious Ones.  Two who wish to take Death’s place in the universe.  They will destroy all life and Death will die.  They will do what we forced Mantrid to do, destroy the universe.”

“So Prince and Gordons are the Ambitious Ones?” Xev asked.

“Yes, and you and Stanley are also both Shadow Walkers. You have both died and come back.  The two who serve death are assisted by other Shadow Walkers in preventing the Ambitious Ones from carrying out their plans.”

“So why are we going to Mexico?” Stan asked.

“Because we need to find a weapon that was left here after the Insect War.  The pyramid is a directional beacon.  It will lead us to the weapon itself.” Kai explained.  “It was the final solution if mankind had lost the war.  Thousands of these weapons are scattered throughout the universe, triggering one of them will trigger them all.  It is the same technology the Divine Order used to create the Lexx.  The difference is that it does not destroy planets, it destroys suns.”
